The Central Lancashire Medicines Formulary has been developed by pharmacists from Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Preston CCG and Chorley and South Ribble CCG, with input from a wide range of clinicians and pharmacists from across all the organisations.
The aim of the formulary is to optimise the quality of prescribing across the health economy. Only medicines that are listed in the formulary should be prescribed routinely.
The formulary has been approved by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Medicines Governance Committee and Joint Medicines Management Group, Greater Preston and Chorley and South Ribble CCGs. The medicines included in the formulary have been assessed to be the most appropriate in terms of efficacy, safety, patient acceptability, convenience and economy.
